Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a "universal energy" and is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing. Energy healing targets energy fields around the body. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. Over time these energy blocks can cause illness.
Reiki helps the flow of energy in the same way as acupuncture, improving the flow of energy around the body. It speeds up healing and can reduce symptoms of physical pain and emotional trauma.
There are many conditions that can be treated with reiki. These include cancer, heart disease, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, infertility, neurodegenerative disorders, autism, Crohn's disease, fatigue syndromes and many more. Reiki promotes your body's natural ability to heal, it is suitable for anybody, including animals and children. End of life patients also find it highly beneficial.
I found reiki after my husband and I miscarried our first baby 7 years ago. Within a few months of self healing, I was pregnant again and we had our rainbow baby. A few years later my husband was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare liver cancer. At this time I continued my study of reiki and became a Reiki Master. Unfortunately, my husband passed away age 34, but reiki really helped him with pain symptoms and anxiety. It lifted his mood and made him feel safe and secure. Reiki for me is love energy. By channeling this energy into your body, negative energy is removed, thus allowing your body to work at its highest potential.
Reiki can be carried out anywhere, but works much better in a chilled, calm environment which I provide. You will lie fully clothed, on a treatment bed surrounded by soft lights and crystals. I play meditation music and guide you into a relaxed state. Once we are both in a meditative state, I place my hands on or above your body and let energy guide me. The transfer of energy happens at this time. I generally start with energy centres or chakras and then my hands will know where to go. Some people find this to be a very spiritual experience and some do not. Regardless of your beliefs, energy is science and reiki can be recieved by anybody.
